With community making becoming ever more popular, we are growing our membership body, events program (in our new events space), learning programs and just plain growing – we are calling to add more skills, and more lovely people to our team, to be a part of this exciting journey. If you are meeting us for the first time, Edinburgh Open Workshop (EOW) is an innovative, creative co-working space, offering membership-based access to a variety of workshop facilities, studios, machinery, tools, to both Pay-As-You-Go Members and long-term Resident Makers. As a not-for-profit social enterprise we believe in supporting artists/makers and creative business, which means ensuring that we keep our space, tools, learning accessible to all.
Being Edinburgh’s only open-access workshop, we support a community of over 300 hobbyist and professional makers, designers, and creatives; our Members range from hobbyists tinkering on small home projects to corporates designing and manufacturing for niche markets with everything in between.
EOW has a small, close-knit, and dedicated team and we’re looking for someone friendly, smart and motivated to join us in both these roles.
Location: Edinburgh, Leith
Contract Rate : £20 p/hr
Contract Duration: Freelance, potentially FTE after one year, subject to funding
Hours: 15 hours a week

The Role
Do you believe that creativity should be open to all? Are you a good communicator and relationship-driven; a confident public speaker who enjoys working with project stakeholders and community groups? Do you combine strong organisational skills with the ability and drive to make stuff happen? If so, then this could be the role for you!
MAKE Space is funded by National Lottery’s Awards for All Community Fund and is to create a comprehensive community outreach strand that will encourage social connection while equipping community members with the skills to mend, make, and create – encouraging confidence, building social connection, and encouraging community resilience.

Do you believe that all creative business deserves to thrive? Are you a good communicator and relationship-driven; enthusiastic, with a passion for engaging people across multiple channels? Do you combine strong organisational skills with an ability to think creatively? If so, then this could be the role for you!
You should have a working knowledge of the creative sector, its joys and its challenges. You will champion the work of EOW and of its member body; maintaining our existing member networks, building new ones, and driving engagement; increasing the breadth and depth of the support services we offer and forging strong relationships with members.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to expand their knowledge, skills and experience in a small, friendly and busy team.
