Join our new sewing course and learn some simple methods and techniques to produce this professional-looking roll–top backpack. Working with lifelong maker Nicola, you’ll learn how to use a basic pattern to lay out and cut your fabrics, moving onto 3-D construction while learning the basics of the sewing machine. The backpack is lined, with front pocket, back zip pocket and adjustable shoulder straps. You can bring your own fabric, or choose from a selection available at the workshop.

Join Angela, designer and maker behind Earlob, for a creative workshop that plays  with delicate material and intricate detail. Working from your own drawing you will get the chance to use tracing software and laser cutting equipment to transform your drawings into files that can then be cut out of paper and acrylic. Perfect for total beginners this workshop is designed to give you a first look at what you can create with laser cutting.

Join Jen of Happy Retro Furniture for a full day workshop where you learn how to choose the right pieces for upcycling, preparing your furniture for painting, designing, and functional finishing methods. Experiment with colours and pattern, while creating your own unique design and walk away with a new small vintage table. No previous experience of furniture painting is necessary. All materials are provided.

Lots of practical training using the MIG welding process, with overview of alternative systems such as TIG, Stick (arc) welding and Gas welding. The course takes you through various welding techniques, from preparation, though cutting, angle grinder use, safety to giving you the basic skills to be flexible and competent in building welded structures, whether artistic and decorative or repair based projects.

Join our new course in developing your practical welding skills, and exploring the designing process. This course is designed for those who have either completed an Introduction to Welding course and are ready for the next stage of their journey. Participants will further develop welding skills while making a welding design and cutting list, choosing the right material, and taking a project from concept to complete. While some basic designs will be provided as guidance, this course encourages you to design and make your own bespoke project.

Its simple, elegant curves are designed to help you learn how to use a router to shape the sides from a template as part of the course. As part of making fine furniture courses, you will work with Anna of Aln Furniture as you learn basic furniture design, tool, and machine use, and traditional/modern woodworking skills. At the end of the course, Anna is on hand to offer advice on your next project so that you can keep making even after the course has finished.

Designed for beginners, this course takes you through the first steps of furniture design and construction while working with designer/maker James of Birbeck’s Woodwork. Participants will work from a custom design to create multifunctional piece of furniture that can be used as an indoor/outdoor table or stool for your home while you gain confidence around woodworking techniques, tools and machinery – all which you can use to plan your next project solo. All materials for the table are included.

Designed for novices, this course takes you through the beginning steps of furniture design and construction while working with designer/maker James of Birbeck’s Woodwork. Participants will work from a custom design to create a side table OR telephone table (each course has a project focus, please choose a course with your desired project) for your home and gain confidence around woodworking techniques, tools and machinery – all which you can use to plan your next project solo. All materials for the table are included.

Learn with fine furniture maker, Anna of Aln Furniture. This course is designed for beginners or those with a grip on the basics looking to improve their craft. Participants will learn basic furniture design, tool, and machine use, and traditional/modern woodworking skills. At the end of the course, Anna is on hand to offer advice on your next project so that you can keep making even after the course has finished. All materials for the stool are included.
