INTRODUCTION TO WOOD TURNING

Beginner Level Workshop
Learn the basics of turning using a wood lathe while creating your own rolling pin or doorstop! Join Kirsty & Becka, the designers and makers of Fine Piece, in this 3-hour workshop to get an introduction to using a wood lathe and chisel to turn a block of wood into beautiful hand turned shapes. Participants will leave with the skills to turn on the lathe independently as well as guidance on what their next project could be. All materials are in included, no experience required.
INTRODUCTION TO FINE WOODWORKING

Beginner Level Course
Build a handmade stool with a carved seat based on simple, elegant Japanese design while working with fine furniture maker, Anna of Aln Furniture. This course is designed for beginners or those with a grip on the basics looking to improve their craft. Participants will learn basic furniture design, tool, and machine use, and traditional woodworking skills. At the end of the course, Anna is on hand to offer advice on your next project so that you can keep making even after the course has finished. All materials for the stool are included.
MAKE YOUR OWN GARDEN FURNITURE
Tuesdays Evenings, 6 weeks | 18:00 – 21:00 | £375
Beginner/Intermediate Level Course
Working with experienced carpenters and builders, to create bespoke garden/patio furniture for your home. You can make a planter, a bench, small table, or mix and match – maybe make a bench that is also a planter!
Once you’ve chosen a project, you will be given a design and guidance to make any adjustments needed for your space. Participants will gain confidence in the use of workshop machinery and tools to create this project, and the ability to plan future projects on their own.
MAKE YOUR OWN FURNITURE
Tuesdays Evenings, 8 weeks | 18:00 – 21:00 | £330
Intermediate Level Course
Working with experienced carpenters and builders, participants will gain confidence in the use of workshop machinery and tools to create their own specific project. Come with a project in mind and get advice on creating a plan for making, ordering materials (cost of materials not included in course fee), and guidance where needed to complete your project.
This course is designed for folk that have some experience with woodworking that would benefit from extra support in designing and making of their project – size and scale of projects may either be limited to be completed within the the 8 course weeks, or guidance given on how best to complete the project after the course has finished.
INTRODUCTION TO COPPER REPOUSSÉ

Beginner Level Course
Repoussé is a method used to decorate metals by way of hammers and punches. The name repoussé is derived from the French pousser, “to push forward.” This is an ancient technique, which has been used extensively throughout the history of metalworking. You work both sides of the metal to create a low relief of your chosen design. In this workshop we will be working with copper and all the tools and equipment are supplied for you. No previous experience is necessary but will require concentration and a lot of hammering!

Beginner Level Course
The course is designed to give the beginner a good grounding in welding theory and practice, typical welding joints and application. Lots of practical training using the MIG welding process, with overview of alternative systems such as TIG, Stick (arc) welding and Gas welding. The course takes you through various welding techniques, from preparation, though cutting, angle grinder use, safety to giving you the basic skills to be flexible and competent in building welded structures, whether artistic and decorative or repair based projects.
