Gweilo at Edinburgh Street Food

From concept to construction – our latest Made@ project might be our most ambitious yet!

We are thrilled with the seriously hot signage we have created for Gweilo at Edinburgh Street Food and thought we would share some behind-the-scenes insights into how we completed this stunning project…

Back in June, Gweilo director Jade came to us with a bold vision needing a quick turnaround. With her background in art and design, she came prepared with a stunning look-book and clear creative direction. After a productive materials chat, we got to work.

Using her designs and measurements, JJ created a 3D model in SketchUp – a vital step that helps us quote accurately, finalise approvals, and generate precise measurements for builds.

🚧 Build time: 3 days to create 2 carcass units incorporating dimmable LED’s, CNC’d & laser branding, with a polycarbonate facing, finished in Osmo black stain.

💡 Extras added to the job: a laser cut menu rail system, engraved Di-Bond specials board, hoarding and some behind the scenes extras.

Jade also joined a mini mentoring session with EOW director & scenic artist, Nicola, to craft the handmade tiles that now clad the bar – a delightfully messy job we were more than happy to host in our workshop.
