Pearl Moss Press is a small press run by artists Alix Villanueva and Alex Hackett, creating hand-bound artist books, publications and pamphlets. The press explores entanglements between art and the natural world, finding the intimate within the landscape, unpacking multispecies relationships and exploring what it means to be human at the age of the Anthropocene. In keeping with their ecological interests, the artists adopt a ‘scavenger’ ethos, working with found and repurposed materials and aligning themselves to a zero-waste approach.

Angela is an Edinburgh-based medical illustrator, but outside of her 9-5 job, she spread her creative tentacles to ear jewellery which she, a person without piercings, can wear. What began as a personal passion project has grown into EarLob, a small business that’s already found its way into several galleries and art markets around Edinburgh since its launch this year. All of Angela’s earrings are handmade locally, with some pieces crafted from recycled acrylic plastic, allowing each purchase to support a greater cause. Her designs cater to everyone, whether you have piercings, sensitive skin, or neither. All the earrings are laser-cut at the Edinburgh Open Workshop, keeping the process local and sustainable.

Edinburgh maker Lynne Sneddon, under her brand Fresaichigo, makes hand-woven bookmarks with foraged wool from the countryside, rescued fleeces unwanted by farmers and recycled yarn trimmings. She processes all raw wool from scratch and spins it to make yarn. The bookmarks are her way of demonstrating that wool should not be considered a waste product, and has many practical uses. She also hand knits project bags made from leftover yarns and material. To encourage more people to get creative with wool, she has also written a short booklet on foraging and preparing wild wool.
