Wrapping Up 2022

NEWS

A Moment to Reflect and Rest Happy Holidays

THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD TIMES

Another year and a whole bunch of fun has been had because of you lot. Though the world has been a bit wobbly (to say the least), we have found such joy in the community that makes EOW.

EOW HOLIDAY DATES

23 December – 3 January

Tours, Bookings, Courses, and our bright faces all return starting the 4 January!

Like most, it’s that time of year where we reflect on the past 12 months and take a wee breather in preparation for the year to come.

So, here are some of our highlights that humble us very much.

Felder. Felder. Felder. Felder – Getting over £140k of new workshop equipment has really levelled- up the quality of our offering. They are very smooth machines and are making us feel pretty   f a n c y.

We have expanded our outreach programme. In particular working with Artlink Youth, Orbit Youth Charity, WHALE Arts, and Men in Sheds providing workshop classes from woodwork, textiles and metal work. Getting people from all walks of life in the workshop is something we hold close to our hearts and we are so excited to develop this even further in 2023!

Through our doors we have had an inspiring bunch of PAYG members; folk creating everything from climbing holds, to camper van conversions, work benches, bespoke cabinets, puppet’s and carved figures, on top of all the wonderful DIY projects.

We have also had a sell out cohort of course students in our woodwork, welding and screen-printing classes. This has been pretty wicked and we are hoping to increase our class offering to get more of you involved.

It also goes without saying that our resident members bring constant creative energy, inspiration and laughter to our community.

Thinking of people who bring a lot of joy to the workshop; we would also like to say a big THANK YOU to both Niamh, who joined us as an apprentice and Rosie who is now out Membership Engagement and Marketing Officer.

As far as the stats go we have had:

6 New courses added to the rota

120 People registered in courses and workshops

25 Scholarships/bursaries

4 New outreach programs

Looking ahead we have much up our sleeves; From increasing opening hours, outreach program and class offerings. Also, just getting more of you in to do more making!!

We would also like to say a big thank you to Massive thanks to Firstport Scotland for their support through the LaunchMe program, Big Society Capital for training bursaries, and most importantly our FANTASTIC member community who’ve made all of this possible!

A note from Tash – EOW CEO

‘You are all legends in your own underpants ! Have a restful and merry “merrymass” and brace yourselves for more creative endeavours in the New Year. You are what makes EOW. Thank you very much.’

Have a lovely festive break. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in the workshop for 2023 makes.
