UPDATED 17 April 2020

EOW Family, following Government advice as of 16 April 2020, Edinburgh Open Workshop and its facilities and workshops will continue to be closed for all but those who have essential need of the facilities and key access. Any EOW user who enters the space with essential work must also wipe down any surface they touch during their use, and maintain social distance from any other present user.

For those who do maintain access to the workshop, know that EOW will continue to follow hygiene measures and advice from Health Protection Scotland on preventing the spread of infection; regular wiping down surfaces, door handles, machines and card readers etc.

It is vital that we all stay home as much as possible, regardless of if we are exhibiting symptoms or have had contact with anyone exhibiting symptoms. This action is in accordance with Government advice as of 16 April 2020, and crucial to help control the spread of the outbreak.

We are experiencing strange and trying times and it is becoming clearer that this distant style of life is going to be a marathon, not a sprint – that can feel daunting, which is understandable. We want you to know that EOW will be here at the end of it, and we will ready to make sure that you all still have access to the space you need to get back to making as soon as possible.

On 8 May 2020, EOW will revisit the current situation and relevant Government health advice and will respond accordingly with workshop availability. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Continue to stay safe and look after each other. We will be sending out a newsletter shortly, if you are a current member and have not received a newsletter from us before and would like to be on that list please email, [email protected].

With good thoughts and thoroughly washed hands,

Team EOW
