Furniture designer and maker

My work is directly informed by the client’s needs.  I take great care to understand the brief, to advise on the type of wood that best suits the project and to source local and sustainable materials wherever possible in order to design appealing pieces that exceed expectations.

Having worked as a theatre stage manager for a decade, harbouring  long-held interest in design, art and architecture and keen to keep working creatively, I enrolled in the Chippendale School of Furniture in the autumn of 2014.  The intense training and working with my hands in a practical and honest way sat extremely well with me and the rest is history!

One of my pieces, designed and made at Chippendale was the ‘Mavis’ cabinet, seen in the gallery above on the right.  The piece was selected by Richard DeMarco to be part of his exhibition of 6 pieces by up-and-coming furniture designer/makers at the Scottish Parliament in June 2015.

Morris of Portobello is available for design and making wooden furniture and accoutrements, from the smallest wooden object to a fully fitted kitchen, contact me for a no obligation quote.
