EOW has its own machines and others donated for communal use by supporting organisations and other members. Use of the machinery is always at the member’s own risk.

EOW cannot be held responsible for the theft or loss of personal property, and we recommend that you insure the individual property you intend to bring regularly or store at EOW.
Members whose work has a commercial purpose from the outset are required to protect others and hold a valid PLI certificate. If the work is to be sold on, this should be combined with Products Liability Insurance. We also recommend that members take out Personal Injury insurance if this is not included in their PLI.
If a member’s work at EOW has no commercial purpose, PLI is not required, though they may want to consider a personal injury policy.
If the work of a member begins to have, commercial purpose, it is the responsibility of that member to obtain public liability insurance to cover their working practise, products liability to cover any goods made and/or sold.
We recommend PLI cover up to 5 million, but 2 million is acceptable. PLI of 5 million is mandatory for those wishing to lead classes, courses or workshops.
Unions such as BECTU and Scottish Artists Union offer PLI as part of their sign up costs. If being in a union is not important to you, many freelancers use Hencilla Canworth for affordable PLI policies and crafcover.com serve the hobbyist community.
